Our Vision is a world free from meningitis and septicaemia. Established in 1989, Meningitis Research Foundation believes these diseases will ultimately be defeated through research. We have spent over £15.6m on research to date and we are currently funding 24 research projects into the prevention, detection and treatment of meningitis and septicaemia.
We also continually develop educational materials to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of meningitis and septicaemia, so people affected can get relevant treatment as quickly as possible. In addition, we work with over 15,000 individual members and supporters with personal experience of meningitis and septicaemia to raise understanding of the after-effects of the diseases. In this way we help to reduce death and disability, and give support to people affected.
“Meningitis and septicaemia pose a serious health risk to young children and adults, often with devastating consequences. Through this working group we hope to achieve better awareness and understanding of pneumococcal meningitis in particular in our continued mission to reduce the overall incidence and impact of these diseases.” Christopher Head, Chief Executive.
